An Analysis of Problems in Teaching English and the Needs of Prathom Suksa 6 Teachers in Phosai DDistrcit, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to examine the problems and needs of teachers in teaching English at Prathom Suksa 6 within the area of Phosai district Ubon Ratchathani province. The informants were collected by sample random sampling. The samples consisted of 29 teachers teaching English, 29 school directors, 148 Prathom Suksa 6 students and 148 parents. The questionnaire and the interview were instruments used for collecting data. The percentage, standard deviation and mean were used as the statistical values of the quantitative data analysis. The qualitative data were categorized and reported descriptively. The research finding were as follow: The result showed that English instruction of teachers, teaching in Prathom Suksa 6 at Phosai district was deficient in many aspects. The most problem of English instruction was the lack of teachers major in English. The lack of knowledge and skills in English and teaching technique the preparation in assessment, as well as the work load and the lack of confidence in teaching were also problems. The supports within school, between school network, form community and educational service area were not sufficient to yield effectiveness in providing English learning experiences and instruction. The teachers required to be trained in English courses. The teachers, school directors and students needed aids and supports from parents and communities as well as the supports and cooperation between stakeholders, school, community and the educational service area. การศึกษาครั้งนี้ มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อ ศึกษาปัญหาการสอนภาษาอังกฤษ ของครูผู้สอนในระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ในเขตพื้นที่อำเภอโพธิ์ไทร จังหวัดอุบลราชธานีกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ได้จากการสุ่มอย่างง่าย ประกอบด้วยครูผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษ ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 จำนวน 29 คน ผู้บริหารโรงเรียนจำนวน 29 คน นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 จำนวน 148 คน และผู้ปกครองนักเรียน จำนวน 148 คน เครื่องมือสำหรับการวิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามและแบบสัมภาษณ์ การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณ ใช้ค่าสถิติร้อยละ ค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานและค่าเฉลี่ย การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพใช้การจัดกลุ่มและการบรรยาย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษ ในระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ในเขตพื้นที่อำเภอโพธิ์ไทร ยังขาดความพร้อมหลายด้าน ด้านที่เป็นปัญหามากที่สุดคือขาดครูผู้สอนที่มีวุฒิความรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ รองลงมาคือ ครุขาดความรู้ความสามารถทางภาษาอังกฤษและเทคนิคการสอน การเตรียมการสอนและการสอนรวมไปถึงการวัดผลแลประเมินผล การรับผิดชอบงานสอนและงานพิเศษหลายอย่างและการขาดความมั่นใจในการสอนทำให้ไม่สามารถเตรียมความพร้อมได้อย่างเต็มที่ การสนับสนุนภายในโรงเรียน ระหว่างโรงเรียนและการสนับสนุนจากชุมชนรวมทั้งการสนับสนุนจากสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษายังไม่เพียงพอสำหรับการจัดการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษให้มีประสิทธิภาพได้ ในส่วนของความต้องการ ครูผู้สอนต้องการการฝึกอบรมภาษาอังกฤษ ทั้งครู ผู้บริหารโรงเรียนและนักเรียนต้องการความช่วยเหลือและสนับสนุนจากผู้ปกครองและชุมชนตลอดจนจากสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษา
