Abstract:
This research was based on surveys, studying the level of alcohol drinking so as to measure the level of perception of compliance with laws, attitudes, values, and knowledge towards alcohol beverage drinking among undergraduate university students in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Data were collected from the sample group that was comprised of 283 undergraduate university students from their first, second, third, fourth, and fifth years during the 2020 academic year. The questionnaires test reliability by Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.907. The data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, and logistic regression.Findings indicated that undergraduate university students in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province occasionally drank alcohol (72.34%). The level of perception of compliance with the law was the highest, with an average of 4.35. The level of attitude, values, and knowledge towards alcohol drinking was determined with an average of 3.23, 2.98, and 3.15.The correlation between perception of compliance with laws had affected alcohol drinking with statistical significance (p<0.05) such that undergraduate university students who had the perception of the effective enforcement of the Alcohol Beverage Control Act had the chance to not drink the alcohol. This was equal to about 1.2 times. Furthermore, the correlation between attitude, value, and knowledge did not affect alcohol drinking with statistical significance (p<0.05).There are two recommendations from the results: First, amending the Alcohol Beverage Control Act should be considered to disallow easy access for youth to obtain alcoholic beverages at any time because of health concerns over the short and long period. Finally, academic institutions or related agencies should promote the perception of the Alcohol Beverage Control Act to foster acknowledgment and understanding of it in order to reduce alcohol drinking.
