Abstract:
The objects of this research were: 1) to study good practices for Model-based Inquiry teaching develop grade 10 students productive thinking in Biodiversity, and 2) to develop grade 10 students productive thinking in Biodiversity using Model-based Inquiry teaching. The participants were 30 grade 10 students. The data were collected using productive thinking evaluation form, students worksheets, model, teachers reflective journals, students reflective journals. Quantitative data were analyzed by mean and percentage. Moreover, the qualitative data were analyzed with inductive analysis to finding good practices of using Model-based Inquiry teaching. The findings showed that the good practices to grade 10 students develop productive thinking in Biodiversity were: 1) using the problem which should be challenge and relate to students daily life 2) providing enough time and the students should be able to group up by themselves in order to brainstorming, planning and building creative students product and 3) teacher assigned products specification explicitly and pointing out which scientific content required for students applying scientific knowledge creatively to design needed products. The results also revealed that after learning through Model-based Inquiry, students showed productive thinking at fair (11 %), good (22.22 %) to excellence (66.67 %) level. Moreover, the results showed that the highest development of students productive thinking was systematic planning which mean was 3.64.
