Abstract: Executive functions refer to higher-order cognitive processes which encourage children to think before acting, anticipate the sequence of actions, resist temptation, focus on tasks at hand, and adopt flexible behavior in unfamiliar situations. Parents play an Advisor Co-advisor Co-advisor essential role in fostering children’s executive functions. This descriptive qualitative study aimed to explore parenting related to the promotion of executive functions in preschool children. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 18 biological mothers of children aged 3 to 5 years who had attended a training program on promoting executive functions. Data were collected using participant observation and in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings on parenting related to promoting executive functions in preschool children were comprised of seven categories: 1) supporting children to focus their attention ; 2) encouraging children to use their own ability to accomplish tasks ; 3) promoting to solve problems on their own ; 4) enhancing self-confidence ; 5) encouraging imagination ; 6) supporting children to have self-control ; and 7) practices hindering executive functions. Moreover, the facilitators and barriers of parenting related to promoting executive functions were presented in two categories: 1) support for promoting executive functions and 2) constraints for promoting executive functions. The finding of this study can be used as a guideline for parenting to promote executive functions in preschool children and develop an intervention study to empower the capability of parents for promoting preschool children’s executive functions.

Abstract: การคิดเชิงบริหารหมายถึงกระบวนการคิดในระดับที่สูงขึ้น ที่ช่วยให้เด็กคิดก่อนลงมือทำ คาดการณ์ถึงผลที่จะตามมาของการกระทา ต้านทานต่อสิ่งที่มายั่วยุ มุ่งมั่นในงานที่ต้องทำ และปรับพฤติกรรมให้ยืดหยุ่นในสถานการณ์ที่ไม่คุ้นเคย บิดามารดามีบทบาทสำคัญในการส่งเสริมการคิด เชิงบริหารของเด็ก การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแบบพรรณาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการอบรมเลี้ยงดูของบิดามารดาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับส่งเสริมการคิดเชิงบริหารในเด็กวัยก่อนเรียน เลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างด้วยวิธีการสุ่มแบบเจาะจงจากผู้ปกครองของเด็กอายุ 3-5 ปีที่เข้ารับบริการในศูนย์พัฒนาเด็กเล็ก จำนวน 18 คน รวบรวมข้อมูลโดยวิธีการสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วมและการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การอบรมเลี้ยงดูของบิดามารดาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการส่งเสริมการคิดเชิงบริหารในเด็กก่อนวัยเรียนมี 7 ประเด็นหลัก ได้แก่ 1) สนับสนุนให้เด็กมีความจดจ่อใส่ใจ 2) ส่งเสริมให้เด็กใช้ความสามารถของตัวเองในการทำงานให้สาเร็จ 3) ส่งเสริมการแก้ไขปัญหาด้วยตัวเอง 4) เสริมสร้างความมั่นใจในตัวเอง 5) ส่งเสริมให้เกิดจินตนาการ 6) สนับสนุนให้เด็กมีความสามารถในการควบคุมตัวเอง และ 7) การปฏิบัติที่ขัดขวางการคิดเชิงบริหาร นอกจากนี้ปัจจัยเอื้อและปัจจัยอุปสรรคของการอบรมเลี้ยงดูเด็กที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการส่งเสริมการคิดเชิงบริหาร มี 2 ประเด็นหลัก ได้แก่ 1) สิ่งสนับสนุนเพื่อที่จะส่งเสริมการคิดเชิงบริหาร และ 2) สิ่งที่ขัดขวางการส่งเสริมการคิดเชิงบริหาร ผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้สามารถใช้เป็นแนวทางการอบรมเลี้ยงดูของบิดามารดาที่ส่งเสริมการคิด เชิงบริหารในเด็กก่อนวัยเรียน และพัฒนาเป็นการศึกษาเชิงปฏิบัติการเพื่อเสริมสร้างพลังอำนาจ ด้านศักยภาพของบิดามารดาในการส่งเสริมการคิดเชิงบริหารของเด็กก่อนวัยเรียน
