This research aims to: 1) explore Buddhist psychological communication approaches, 2) study depression in the elderly, and 3) apply Buddhist psychological communication methods to enhance understanding of depression among elderly individuals. It also seeks to enable caregivers to effectively integrate these approaches into their daily lives. The research found that 1) Understanding mental processes enhances effective communication through mindfulness practice, emotional regulation, and appropriate word choices, fostering positive relationships, reducing conflicts, and building sustainable understanding. 2) Elderly individuals often face depression due to physical deterioration, the loss of loved ones, and increased isolation, which are commonly manifested as physical symptoms, such as fatigue or aches. Caregivers should be mindful of depression, avoid insensitive language, and encourage the elderly to engage in relaxing activities. 3) Employing Buddhist psychological communication with gentle and compassionate words helps the elderly feel cared for and supported by those around them, boosting their confidence in managing depression. Additionally, caregivers can use these principles to develop mindfulness and a deeper understanding of depression, resulting in more effective support for elderly individuals
