Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to explore the occupancy of key mammalian species in Kaeng Krachan National Park, Phetchaburi Province, with the goal of examining occupancy and factors associated with target mammal species occupancy along the upper Phetchaburi River. Using the spatial occupancy study method, traces of hazards induced by people were discovered in survey lines of key species such as elephants (Elephas maximus), gaur (Bos gaurus), sambar deer (Cervus unicolor), and wild pigs (Cervus unicolor) by singleseason occupancy model. The study results indicate that the environmental factors related to the distribution of the studied mammals are the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), slope, distance from saltlick, distance from village, and average monthly rainfall. Additionally, it was found that there were fewer traces of wildlife as the distance from the Phetchaburi River to the Pong LuekBang Kloi village decreased. This is consistent with the hypothesis that wildlife distribution decreases when approaching villages or community areas. To utilize the information obtained from the study to create the occupancy map of each species, this can be beneficial for educational and research activities within the national park, preventing resource-related violations in the area, and developing future management plans for the national park
