Abstract:
The objective of this research is to present the life cycle Assessment and carbon dioxide emissions in a model Cradle-to-Gate of the production process of air conditioner insulated pipes, activities which include transportation (inbound) / acquisition of raw materials / production process / transportation (outbound). All these activities have an impact on the environment. In the environmental impact analysis, the IPCC GWP 100a method is used to determine the occurrence of global warming from the release of carbon dioxide and assessed using the ECO indicator 99 method to determine other types of environmental impacts. Using the SimaPro 7.3.2 program, the results of the study found that the process that has the greatest environmental impact is the copper pipe assembly. Process the highest carbon dioxide was released at 8.96 kg CO2 eq per one product, so research was made to find ways to reduce the environmental impact of this process first. By proposing the use of aluminum pipes in place of copper pipes. It was found that carbon dioxide was released only 2.64 kg CO2 eq per one product, and the results of the study were divided into groups of impacts on the ecological system, the ECO indicator 99 method found impacts on all 11 measurement indexes, production of insulated pipes for air conditioners using aluminum pipes. Also, it released less toxicity in human health, ecosystems, and resources used than producing insulated pipes for air conditioners using copper pipes.
