Abstract:
This study employs qualitative research methodology to investigate learning activities that integrate STEM education with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model. The research aims to develop innovative citizenship competencies among students and to evaluate these competencies following their participation in the integrated activities. Findings indicate that effective learning activities necessitate clear definitions of community-related situations through relevant real-life examples. These activities enable students to identify issues, implement appropriate survey methods, engage in proactive learning, locate information sources, recognize conditions and limitations, adapt to the BCG Economy Model framework, develop problem-solving methodologies, create environmentally sustainable innovations, evaluate solution effectiveness, and engage in classroom discourse. The study provides creative recommendations and analyzes community challenges from student perspectives. Results demonstrate that participants developed scientific and engineering comprehension, applied knowledge for problem resolution, examined issues from diverse viewpoints, demonstrated investigative capabilities, exhibited scientific interest, enhanced communication skills, developed analytical thinking, practiced ethical decision-making, displayed social responsibility and mutual respect, and designed innovations connecting scientific and engineering principles with community welfare.
