Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to 1) create and validate the quality of the scientific creativity test; and 2) establish local norms of a scientific creativity test for thirdgrade students. The samples were a multi stage sampling of 300 third-grade students who studied under local administrative organization in Pathumthani Province. The research instrument was a scientific creativity test for third-grade students based on Torrance's concept and theory of creativity, which consisted of fluency, flexible, and originality of thinking. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, standard deviation, standard score, Item-Objective Congruence Index, item difficulty, item discrimination, and reliability. The findings were as follows: 1) A scientific creativity test was constructed with 6 questions covering 3 elements: fluency, flexibility, and originality of thinking, which were short answers. The scientific creativity test's quality metrics, including content validity (IOC), item difficulty, and item discrimination, ranged from 0.67 to 1.00, 0.48 to 0.66, and 0.20 to 0.50, respectively. The reliability scores were 0.81 for fluency, 0.80 for flexibility, and 0.84 for originality. 2) Norms were established for interpreting scores on the scientific creativity test, where fluency, flexibility, originality and all elements of thinking ranged from T29 to T77, T24to T72, T28 to T70, and T24 to T83 respectively.
