Abstract:
This article examines the comparative study of fire evacuation simulation the Pathfinder program to enhance safety and provide guidance for developing evacuation plans in the event of a fire emergency in office buildings. The office building of 22 floors with a total area of 36,700 square meters. The total usable area is 6.66 square meters per person, and there are two fire exit stairs. The total number of employees is about 3,000 people. Three evacuation model scenarios were created: Scenario 1 compares the evacuation times with predefined exit routes against scenarios without predefined exit routes. The findings indicate that constructing a model for comparison with actual evacuation reports, without specifying evacuation leaders and routes assigns the number of people on each floor based on the actual number of participants in fire evacuation drills in 2023, totaling 901 people. The evacuation time for Scenario 1 was found to be 20 minutes 52 seconds, which is longer than Scenario 2 time of 10 minutes 15 seconds. This is due to congestion in the fire exit stairs two. Scenario 2 assumes that the building is at full capacity in high-risk evacuation areas, with a total of 1,231 people in the simulation and compares the evacuation times using a fire alarm signaling as a Single state alarm with Multi-state alarm. It also designates the third floor as the fire origin floor. In Scenario 2, the evacuation time exceeded the standard legal requirements for the third floor, with all occupants taking more than 5 minutes to safe area. Additionally, the evacuation time to safety was longer in Scenario 2 by 2 minutes and 26 seconds compared to Scenario 1. This is because occupants on all floors evacuate simultaneously, leading to congestion in both fire exit stairs.
