Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to assess the ergonomic risks affecting muscle fatigue of sewing and packing workers in garment industry. This research included designing and modifying the work station to reduce the risk of ergonomic which was gathering information by questionnaire. During data collection, it was found workers had ergonomic problem with muscle injury in the past 7 days at the highest shoulder position followed by the lower back and neck. From the analysis using the RULA ergonomics risk assessment, it was found worker had ergonomic risk at level 4, it is a high risk and must be updated immediately. Therefore, researcher analyzed the problems that caused ergonomic risks by prioritizing the risks of problems affecting different parts of the body. It was found that inappropriate workplaces caused employees to have un-ergonomic working postures. Then, it was solved by redesigning the work station and working environment, such as change a chair with a backrest that can rotate and adjust the height, sewing machine table can height-adjustable with footrest, Anti-vibration rubber pad of the pedal, pads for reduce fatigue in the case of employees standing working and increase the management of ergonomics in the organization Including training to educate worker about ergonomics. After worker work in the newly renovated work station. The researcher repeated data collection with a questionnaire. It was found worker had problems with ergonomics, muscle injuries in the past 7 days decreased. From the analysis using the RULA ergonomic risk assessment, it was found that the risk of employees was reduced. The research concluded that sewing and packing is a problem with ergonomics and when using the RULA to assess ergonomic risks this makes it possible to correct the cause at the point, resulting in a reduced risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders
