Abstract:
The waste management problem in the region has resulted from rapid urban expansion, which make the management system unable to cope with the increasing volume of waste. This study aims to: 1. examine the current waste management issues in Bangkron City, Nongburi Province, 2. analyze the waste management strategies implemented by Bangkrang City, Nongburi Province; and 3. Propose sustainable waste management solutions for the municipality. Using a qualitative research approach, data was collected from 20 key informants, and analyzed through interpretative analysis. The results reveal study found that: 1. the municipality, as a rapidly growing urban community, faces a significant increase in waste volumes, with an insufficient number of waste collection personnel causing delays and waste accumulation. 2. To solve this issue, the municipality has implemented the 5R principle: R1 (reduction) promoting a campaign to use cloth bags instead of plastic bags and minimizing daily waste; R2 (reuse) encouraging waste segregation for reposing; R3 (restoration) collecting large waste items for repair and reuse; R4 (recycling) providing training on recycling practices; and R5 (project) discouraging the use of non-biodegradable and hazardous products, ensuring proper disposal. 3. Additionally, the study suggests that waste management guidelines for a sustainable system in Bang Krang Municipality, Nonthaburi Province. Due to inadequate personnel, the waste management system is crucial for efficiency. A structured garbage collection schedule will be improved and implemented, with immediate response system for overflowing waste. Additionally, budget allocation for purchasing additional garbage trucks is planned to enhance efficiency and ensure cost-effective investment. Public Awareness campaigns, such as garbage banks, and waste exchange programs, should be promoted to encourage community participation in waste reduction from the source.
