Abstract:
The study of air quality measurement data from the ground and satellites (CO, NO2 , SO2 , O3 , PM10, PM2.5 and AOD) together with average traffic volume and number of people on the travel. The objective was to study the trend of air pollution changes during COVID-19 in Thailand (from 1 Jan 2020-31 Aug 2021). From the study, it was found that CO, NO2 , SO2 , PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations from the ground tended to be high during the consistent normal period in 2017-2019, except O3 that was found to be high during the 1st Lockdown of 2019. In addition, all parameters will decrease during the new normal, consistent every year. In the normal period of 2021, there is a tendency to be higher than the previous year. In the overview of the satellite values namely CO, NO2 , SO2 and AOD declined from 2020 through 2021, in line with the COVID-19 range, except O3 that tends to increase in the same way as ground. For the study of the correlation of ground and satellite measurements, it was found that the high correlation data was NO2 data (r = 0.74), the moderate level was PM2.5 (r = 0.54), the low level was PM10 (r = 0.45) and at very low levels were SO2 (r = 0.30), CO (r = 0.12) and O3 (r = -0.40). In addition, the study of the source of pollution factors affecting the change found that both traffic volume statistics and the number of people on travel types are factors that cause air pollution problems. The downward trend was in line with the noticeable decrease in air pollutants during the 1st Lockdown, as well as the 2nd and 3rd outbreaks, respectively
