The input shaper is placed in the feedforward part of the control system as a finite impulse response filter. These techniques are effective in linear systems with known natural frequencies and damping ratios. However, in practice, vibrating systems are nonlinear, with variable natural frequencies and damping ratios, reducing the effectiveness of linear system-designed input shapers. This thesis investigates input shaping in nonlinear mechanical systems, divided into two parts: 1) Developing a feedback control system combined with input shaping, using feedback linearization or model reference control to linearize the closed-loop system, allowing the elimination of vibrations with a linear input shaper. 2) Developing nonlinear input shaping techniques using energy methods for nonlinear rigid-flexible systems with two degrees of freedom, represented by a two-mass system connected by a spring and damper. The nonlinear input shapers are in a closed form and can be applied to systems with zero or non-zero initial conditions. The robustness of these shapers is evaluated by analyzing the impulse signals time function and confirmed through sensitivity curves
