Abstract:
With electricity demand rising and self-generation being widely adopted, standby rates and ancillary service charges need a well-structured approach. In this paper, we focus on different types of standby rates and ancillary services, including their provision in different countries. It is then applied in a case study to compare the total electricity costs of both full-requirement and partial-requirement customers using various pricing strategies. These findings underscore the cost-saving benefits of self-generation, while also stressing the need for fair and transparent pricing systems.
