Abstract:
It has been about 8 years since 2011 to 2019 that Thai politics had been absent from the election of members of House of Representatives. With such a long period of time, the 2019 election was very crucial in term of the exercise of voters' rights. The objectives of this research were to study: 1) the level of perception upon political news among political science students, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, 2) the political attitudes of political science students of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University towards the 2019 election and 3) the relationship between political news perception and political attitudes of political science students of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University on the 2019 election. The sample group used in the study was political science students in every year in Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University to whom were studying in the second semester of the 2019 academic year at the total number of 305 persons. The data collection was possible through the questionnaires that were considered as a research tool. The data was processed by a ready-made computer program. The statistics used in the data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson's correlation coefficient with the determined statistical significance at .05 level. The results showed that: 1) the overall value of political news perception among political science students of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University was at a high level (𝑥 ̅= 3.54, S.D. = 0.47). The sample group had the behavior of receiving political news from various media in which personal media showed the highest value. 2) Political attitudes of political science students of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University found that the respondents had democratic political attitudes at the highest value (𝑥̅ = 4.63, S.D. = 0.18) and the overall value towards attitude on dictator political regime was at the lowest level (𝑥̅ = 1.37, S.D. = 0.17) and, 3) for the relationship between political news perception and political attitudes of political science students of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University on the 2019 election, the study found that the perception of political news positively correlated with democratic political attitudes at the highest level on the item of personal media, while the negative correlation was the perception of political news through short messages (SMS). Finally, the political news perceptions were positively correlated with authoritarian political attitudes with a statistical significance via brochure, and the negative correlation was the discussion with the teachers.
