Abstract:
This paper presents the single-phase AC-AC matrix converter that uses four units of bidirectional switches as main power switching devices. This converter can convert the utility single-phase sinusoidal supply voltage into a variable voltage of the PWM pattern by adjusting the switching frequency of the control signal and the modulation index of the PWM signals. The modulation indexes are 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0, and the output voltages are 12.5 Hz, 25 Hz, 50 Hz, and 100 Hz. The waveforms of the voltages and the currents of the single-phase AC-AC matrix converter for the simulation results using the MATLAB/Simulink program and the experimental results are observed with passive loads. Moreover, the efficiency is measured.
