Transformation of the organizational culture of the a company to the desired organizational culture according to the cultural reform guidelines of the public sector
Abstract:
The objectives of this study were to study the characteristics of the organizational culture currently perceived by the employees, to study the desired organizational culture in the perception of employees and to study the guidelines for transforming the organizational culture of The A company to the desired organizational culture according to the cultural reform guidelines of the public sector. This study was to explain the types and characteristics of the existing organizational culture and the desired organizational culture perceived by employees by utilizing the concept of organizational culture, leading to four patterns of organizational culture comprising 1) the clan culture, 2) the hierarchy culture, 3) the adhocracy culture and 4) the market culture, and the concept of organizational culture transformation according to the guidelines for reforming the organizational culture of the public sector. This study employed qualitative research method by focusing on interpretation through analysis and meaning interpretation. The data were collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews with a total of 16 informants and a questionnaire from the sample of 63 participants. The results revealed the organizational culture of the company is the hierarchy culture, which is in accordance with the hypothesis that the employees of The A company perceive the organizational culture of the company as the hierarchical culture. Additionally, the existing perceptions of the employees are the clan culture, a perception of culture as a value, and the hierarchical culture, a perception of culture as a belief. Moreover, it was found that the employees perceive the organizational culture of the company as the adhocracy culture. The organization is known to undergo continuous change which is in the positive direction. The organization has adapted by incorporating technology to fit the tasks. The findings are consistent with the hypothesis that the desired organizational culture of the employees of The A company should be the market culture and the adhocracy culture
