Motivating factors related to Thai traditional medicine utilization by public health officers in Suphanburi province
Abstract:
This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to investigate the motivating factors related to Thai traditional medicine utilization by public health officers in Suphan Buri Province. This research used stratified random sampling technique. The required sample included 222 subjects. This research useda questionnaire as the instrument for collecting data. The reliability coefficients of the questionnaire were 0.7543-0.9328. Data analysis was done by using SPSS for windows by presenting frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and pearson's product moment correlation coefficient. The results revealed that Thai traditional medicine utilization by public health officers for health promotion and disease prevention, and for treatment and healing was scored at the low level by 90.09% and 79.27% of the respondent respectively. Benefit perception on Thai traditional medicine by public health officers was scored at the high level 64.41%. Social support was moderate level for internal social support 55.86% and at the low level for external social support 65.76%. The benefit perception of Thai traditional medicine, internal social support and external social support had a significant positive relationship (p<.01) with Thai traditional medicine utilization for health promotion and disease prevention (r = .163, .214, .316 respectively), and also for treatment and healing (r = .359, .464, .466 respectively).
