Abstract:
Objectives of this study were to acquire general information and determine the cost to grow cucumber. Problems and difficulties in operating the cucumber farm were also included in the study, as well as recommended guidelines for solving them. Primary data were gathered directly from twenty farmers using interview list to acquire the data about the cost to grow cucumber per rai. Findings of the study showed that average farming area of each family was about 2 rais. Average cost of farming per rai was 22,146.25 Baht, including 18,130.35 Baht of variable cost and 4,015.90 Baht of fixed cost. Average output per rai was approximated at 6,090 kilograms. The study concluded that the problems about labor force for harvesting and maintenance as well as the cost of the cucumber seeds, depreciation and other difficulties were related to the farming management and resources of growing cucumber were very expensive. These problems should be handled by the government sector through the preparation of price control policy for farmers. In order to reduce the cost of cucumber farming, bio-fertilizer should also be promoted to generate higher profit to the farmers.
