Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to develop a curriculum to enhance understanding of Chinese literature by using Chinese reading and writing for the third year students and 2) to study the results of the implementation. The target group included 21 third year Chinese major students in the Bachelor of Arts program, Lampang Rajabhat University who enrolled Chinese literature course in the first semester of the Academic year 2023, by purposive sampling. This was preliminary experimental research, one-group Pretest Posttest design. The tools used in the research were the developed curriculum, learning units and the test to measure understanding of Chinese literature. Data were analyzed by using percentage, mean , standard deviation and the percentage of relative development.
The research results revealed that the Curriculum to Enhance Understanding of Chinese Literature by Using Chinese Reading and Writing for the Third Year Students composed of 7 components including 1) Introduction, 2) Principles, 3) Objectives, 4) Contents, 5) Instruction Guidelines, 6) Media/Learning Resources and 7) Assessment and Evaluation. The content structure composed of 3 learning units, totaling 15 hours, namely; Unit 1: Modern Chinese Literature (3 hours), Unit 2: Poetry (6 hours) and Unit 3: Prose (6 hours). Overall, the curriculum was appropriate at a high level (x̄ =4.33,S.D.=0.40). The learning units were appropriate at a high level (x̄ =4.48,S.D.=0.48). After studying, the students had higher improvement scores than prior the curriculum management. The average relative development of students was 74.03 percent.
