Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to 1) study factors' level relating English achievement, 2) study a correlation between each factor and English achievement, and 3) find out the predictive equations of factors affected English achievement. The sample was used in this study was 212 of Mathayomsuksa 1 students in Kanaratbamrungpathumtani School, Pathumtani Province. The research instruments were a 5-scale rating questionnaire which had a reliability of .95 and the 40 Items English achievement test, multiple choices which had a reliability of .89. Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, Multiple Correlation, and Stepwise Multiple Regression were employed for data analysis.
The results revealed that 1) The overall factors' level relating English achievement was at a high level. When considering each aspect, the results showed that the factor of attitude toward English learning (X,), teaching quality of teacher (X), achievement motive (X2), learning behavior (X3), classroom's environment (X), and parents' encouragement (X5) were at a high level. 2) Attitude toward English learning (X1), achievement motive(X2), learning behavior (X3), teaching quality of teacher (X4), parents' encouragement (X5), and classroom's environment (X) were statistically significant positive correlation with English achievement at .01 level, and 3) Classroom's environment (X), parents' encouragement (X), and teaching quality of teacher (X4) could be jointly predicted on English achievement by 34.8 percent which were statistically significant at .0.5 level. The predictive equation of English achievement was shown in the form of raw and standard scores, as follows:
Raw scores prediction equation
Y' = 2.652 + 1.581X+1.891 X+1.634 X4
Standard scores predicting equation
Z' = .208 Z+.277 Z5+.196 Z4
