Abstract:
The objectives of this research were: 1) to investigate the existing situation desirable situations, and the needs to develop sustainable leadership of school administrators, and 2) to develop a program to strengthen sustainable leadership of school administrators under Roi Et Secondary Educational Service Area Office. Mixed methods research was employed, which divided into two phases, consisted of Phase 1: investigating of the existing situation and desirable situations, and the needs to develop sustainable leadership of school administrators. The samples were 334 administrators and teachers in secondary schools under Roi Et Secondary Educational Service Area Office, which is randomized by using stratified random sampling technique. Phase 2: developing a program to strengthen sustainable leadership of school administrators. The informants were 3 best practices of school administrators, and 5 experts to evaluate the program. Research instruments were 1) a questionnaire of existing situation and desirable situation of sustainable leadership of school administrators with reliability of existing situation part 0.979 and desirable situation part 0.895, 2) a structured interview form, and 3) a program evaluation form. Statistical used to analyze data were mean, standard deviation, and the modified priority needs index.
The research results were: 1) existing situation of sustainable leadership of school administrators in overall was at a moderate level, while desirable situation was at a high level, and the priority needs to develop sustainable leadership of school administrators were ranked from high to low: No. 1 distribution and network creation, No. 2 Knowledge conservation leads to development, No. 3 Justice and equality, No. 4 continuation of success, No. 5 creating and promoting diversity, No. 6 depth of knowledge, and No. 7 resource management and innovation, respectively; 2) The program to strengthen sustainable leadership of school administrators under Roi Et Secondary Educational Service Area Office consisted of 1) rationale, 2) objectives, 3) content consisted of 7 modules, 4) developing methods comprising
training, field-trip and workshop, 5) measurement and evaluation comprising formative and summative evaluation, before and after of implementing the program, performance monitoring and attitude measurement. The program evaluation of appropriateness and feasibility was at the highest level.
