Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the use and teaching practice of metacognitive and cognitive reading strategies of non-native teachers of English at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL). Also, the study aimed to find out the relationship between the participants' use of metacognitive and cognitive reading strategies and their teaching practices of metacognitive and cognitive strategies. The participants were 41 non-native English language teachers who were working in the six campuses of RMUTL. The research instrument of this study was a questionnaire about the teachers' use and teaching practices of metacognitive and cognitive reading strategies.

The results were as follows:
Overall, the Thai teachers of English at RMUTL used reading strategies for understanding English academic materials at a high level with the mean rate of 3.77 out of 5. Further analysis in the use of each category of reading strategies revealed that the Thai teachers used both metacognitive and cognitive reading strategies at a high level, with the mean rates of 3.71 and 3.83 out of 5, respectively.
Thai teachers of English at RMUTL taught reading strategies in English classes to help their students understand English academic materials at a high level with the mean rate of 3.89 out of 5. Further analysis in the teaching practice of each category of reading strategies revealed that the teachers taught metacognitive reading strategies at a high level with the mean rate of 3.84 and taught cognitive reading strategies at a high level with the mean rate of 3.93 out of 5.
There was a statistically medium-level relationship between the teachers' use of metacognitive and cognitive reading strategies and their teaching practices of metacognitive and cognitive reading strategies.
