Abstract:
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research were: 1) to analyze the components of excellence of basic education schools and the components of factors that affect the excellence of basic education schools, 2) to examine goodness-of-fit between assumption model of the structural equation model of factors affecting the excellence of basic schools and the empirical data, 3) to investigate the direct, indirect, and total effect of causal factors affecting the excellence of basic education schools. The samples were 680 administrators under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in Thailand, who were selected by multi-stage sampling. The research instrument was rating scale
questionnaire. Data were analyzed by computer program. Results of the study revealed the following: 1. The components of basic education school excellence were director quality, teacher quality, academic quality, student quality and Research applied. And the
factors affecting Basic Education School excellence were consisted of leadership, strategic management, human resource management and quality culture. 2. A structural equation model of factors affecting basic education school excellence which was developed based on assumptions has index of the goodness of fit with the empirical data as (χ2) = 37.45, df = 161, (χ2)/df = 0.23, p-value = 1.00,
CFI = 1.00, GFI = 0.94, AGFI = 0.93, RMSEA = 0.00, SRMR = 0.04 3. Direct effects, indirect effects and total effects were factors contributing to basic education school excellence which were ranked into order by path coefficient with descending effects as the following: (1) direct effects were consisted of quality culture, strategic management, human resource management and leadership with
the path coefficient of 0.72, 0.33, 0.32, 0.31, respectively; (2) indirect effects were consisted of quality culture, leadership and human resource management with the path coefficient of 0.70, 0.52, 0.49, respectively; and (3) total effects were consisted of strategic management, leadership, human resource management and quality culture with the path coefficient of 0.93, 0.75, 0.48, 0.46, respectively.
