Evaluating technology acceptance and learning achievement in Chinese learning through an online platform of learners different age
Abstract:
As China's economy expands widely to every country, including Thailand, Chinese has become a global language of interest. Learning Chinese is popular among people of all ages for various purposes, such as education, travel, and business. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the rapid growth of online learning due to its ability to support learners to learn anywhere and anytime. As a result, both learners and teachers have to adapt to new technologies. This study aimed to assess the impact of online learning on Chinese learners of different ages, namely students aged 1521 and working people aged 2235, for a total of 50 people. VooV Meeting was used as the main online learning platform because it has appropriate functions, no time limit, and no participant limit in the free version. The results of the study found that learners from different age groups exhibit varying levels of technology acceptance. Student learners place greater emphasis on the ease of use of technology, whereas working professionals prioritize its functional utility. Moreover, technology acceptance is positively correlated with learning outcomes, with learners in the working age group achieving better results compared to those in the school age group.
