Study and design prototype to promote Chinese speaking skills for international students

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the needs of international students in learning Chinese speaking skills and to design a prototype application that effectively supports the development of such skills. A survey research method was employed using questionnaires distributed to 50 international students in Yunnan Province. The findings revealed that learners preferred personalized and leveled learning paths, structured content aligned with HSK speaking test standards, high-quality language input, speech correction functions, and real-time interactive features. Additionally, learners emphasized the importance of supplementary features such as adjustable audio speed, native-speaker voice comparison, and automatic pronunciation scoring. Based on these findings, a prototype application named “Chinese Planet” was designed and developed to support interactive learning by integrating artificial intelligence, speech recognition, and real-time response mechanisms. The application also includes diverse learning modes such as situational video simulations, shadowing practice, dialogue simulations, voice-command speaking practice, and real-time performance assessments. The prototype was evaluated by five international Chinese language teaching experts across four core dimensions: content design, functional design, user interface design, and practical usability. The evaluation results indicated that all dimensions achieved a high level of appropriateness, with average scores ranging between 4.8 and 5.0 out of 5. Notably, the clarity of learning objectives, effective use of multimedia resources, and interactive functions were highlighted as strengths that significantly enhance speaking proficiency. This research offers a practical framework for designing Chinese-speaking learning applications that genuinely address learner needs based on empirical data and promotes the effective integration of modern technology into second language instruction.

Abstract: งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความต้องการของนักศึกษาต่างชาติในการเรียนรู้ทักษะการพูดภาษาจีน และออกแบบต้นแบบแอปพลิเคชันเพื่อส่งเสริมทักษะดังกล่าวอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ โดยใช้วิธีวิจัยเชิงสำรวจผ่านการเก็บข้อมูลด้วยแบบสอบถามจากนักศึกษาต่างชาติจำนวน 50 คนในมณฑลยูนนาน ผลจากการศึกษาพบว่า ผู้เรียนมีความต้องการเส้นทางการเรียนรู้ที่สามารถแบ่งระดับและปรับให้เหมาะสมตามรายบุคคล เนื้อหาการเรียนรู้ที่เป็นระบบ ครอบคลุมเนื้อหาการสอบวัดระดับ HSK รวมทั้งต้องการข้อมูลภาษาที่มีคุณภาพสูง ฟังก์ชันการแก้ไขเสียงพูด และระบบโต้ตอบแบบเรียลไทม์ นอกจากนี้ นอกจากนี้ผู้เรียนยังให้ความสำคัญกับฟังก์ชันเสริม เช่น การปรับความเร็วของเสียง การเปรียบเทียบเสียงกับเจ้าของภาษา และระบบให้คะแนนการออกเสียงโดยอัตโนมัติ จากผลการสำรวจดังกล่าว จึงได้ออกแบบและพัฒนาต้นแบบแอปพลิเคชันที่มีชื่อว่า “Chinese Planet” ซึ่งรองรับการเรียนรู้แบบมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ โดยบูรณาการเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ การรู้จำเสียงพูด และกลไกการตอบสนองแบบทันที พร้อมทั้งออกแบบโหมดการเรียนรู้ที่หลากหลาย เช่น วิดีโอจำลองสถานการณ์จริง แบบฝึกหัดการพูดตามต้นเสียง การจำลองบทสนทนา การฝึกพูดตามคำสั่งเสียง และระบบประเมินผลแบบเรียลไทม์ ต้นแบบดังกล่าวได้รับการประเมินจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการสอนภาษาจีนระหว่างประเทศจำนวน 5 คน โดยประเมินใน 4 ด้านหลัก ได้แก่ ด้านเนื้อหา ด้านฟังก์ชัน ด้านการออกแบบส่วนติดต่อผู้ใช้ และด้านการใช้งานจริง ผลการประเมินพบว่าทุกด้านได้รับคะแนนเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับ "เหมาะสมมาก" (ช่วงคะแนนเฉลี่ยระหว่าง 4.8–5.0 จากคะแนนเต็ม 5) โดยเฉพาะในด้านความชัดเจนของเป้าหมายการเรียนรู้ การใช้ทรัพยากรมัลติมีเดีย และฟังก์ชันการโต้ตอบที่ช่วยส่งเสริมทักษะการพูดได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ งานวิจัยนี้จึงเสนอแนวทางการออกแบบแอปพลิเคชันเพื่อการพัฒนาทักษะการพูดภาษาจีนที่สามารถตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของผู้เรียนได้อย่างแท้จริง โดยอิงจากข้อมูลเชิงประจักษ์ และสนับสนุนการประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่ในการจัดการเรียนการสอนภาษาจีนอย่างมีประสิทธิผลในบริบทของการเรียนรู้ภาษาที่สอง
