Abstract:
The purposes of this study were: 1) to study the desirable characteristics of school administrators in the 21st century in teacher's perceptions. 2) to compare the desirable characteristics of school administrators in the 21st century in teacher's perception classified by gender, education level, and working-experience. The sample group was 165 teachers in Bang khen District, Bangkok. The sample size was determined according to Krejcie; & Morgan table using stratified random sampling. The instrument used was a 5-rating scale questionnaire which had index of consistency between 0.80-1, the reliability was 0.95. The statistics for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, One-way ANOVA, and paired tests using Scheffe's test method.
The results of the study were as follows:
1. The desirable characteristics of school administrators in the 21st century in teacher's perception, Bang Khen District, Bangkok was at a high level in all aspects, as follows: visionary, moral ethics, personality, human relations, capabilities, and leadership, respectively.
2. The desirable characteristics of school administrators in the 21st century in teacher's perceptions, Bang Khen District, Bangkok, classified by gender, education level, and working- experience in overall and each aspect were that significant different at .05 level by teachers with more than 10 years of working-experience perceived desirable characteristics of school administrators in the 21st century was lower than teachers with 5-10 years and under 5 years of working- experience.
