The Development Process of Loving-Kindness Meditation Practice with Dhamma Music for Enhancing the Mental Well-Being of Working People: A Case Study of Absolute Clean Energy Public Company Limited (ACE)
Abstract:
This research declares six issues as follows: (1) Three objectives: 1) To study the work-related problems faced by employees at Absolute Clean Energy (ACE). 2) To develop a loving-kindness meditation practice with Dhamma Music aimed at enhancing the mental well-being of employees at Absolute Clean Energy (ACE). And 3) To evaluate and present the effects of loving-kindness meditation with Dhamma Music on the mental well-being of employees at Absolute Clean Energy (ACE). (2) The type of research employed is mixed-method research, combining qualitative research and a quasi-experimental design. (3) The research model was conducted in three phases: Phase 1 explored the problems through in-depth interviews and document analysis; Phase 2 involved developing the meditation program using insights from key informants and Buddhist principles; and Phase 3 implemented and evaluated the meditation program using a pretest-posttest design. (4) Sources of data included 16 executives and employees at ACE who had mindfulness practice experience, alongside relevant academic documents. (5) Research tools consisted of semi-structured interviews, document reviews, a mental well-being questionnaire, and statistical analysis tools. (6) Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (paired t-test), while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic content analysis.
The results of the research found that:
1) The results of research from objective no. 1 indicate that employees experienced work-related challenges such as prolonged sitting, lack of physical activity, occupational stress, financial concerns, and poor work-life balance, leading to mental health issues like anxiety and reduced productivity.
2) The results of research from objective no. 2 reveal that the loving-kindness meditation practice with Dhamma Music was developed effectively to include walking meditation, mindfulness of breathing, compassion-based reflections, and Dhamma Gīta listening, fostering relaxation and emotional balance.
3) The results of research from objective no. 3 demonstrate that participants who engaged in the meditation program showed significantly improved mental well-being, including reduced stress, enhanced emotional stability, increased mindfulness, better interpersonal relationships, and improved sleep. The post-program satisfaction score was 8.50 out of 10, indicating strong acceptance of the programs benefits among participants.
