Abstract:
This study aims to develop and validate measurement tools for relationship quality of longdistance relationships in Thailand, focusing on content validity, index of discriminative, reliability, and construct validity ; and study the relationship quality levels of long-distance relationships, both as a whole and within subgroups, categorized by gender, residence, duration of separation from their partner, distance from their partner, and frequency of meetings. The study sample consisted of 256 long-distance relationships. Data were collected using the relationship quality of long-distance relationships scale. The data analysis utilized descriptive statistics and second-order confirmatory factor analysis. The results revealed content validity with item-objective congruence indices above 0.5, discriminative power ranging from 0.412 to 0.862, and the reliability of individual components ranges from 0.564 and 0.919. The overall reliability of the scale was 0.969. Furthermore, the secondorder confirmatory factor analysis indicated construct validity (χ²/df = 2.506, CFI= 0.905, RMSEA = 0.077, SRMR = 0.173). The study of relationship quality levels found that the relationship quality of long-distance relationships in Thailand was at a high level, both as a whole and within subgroups. This developed scale can be effectively utilized to assess relationship quality within Thailand's social and cultural context.
