Abstract:
In this paper, our main aim is to minimize the number of riffle shuffles needed to make a random set of cards
for each player in a game of hearts. Though several past researches were done on the topic of riffle shuffles; however,
no one specified the game of hearts and their methods werent efficient for the starting deck in the game of hearts.
Hence, we adapted from the original method. The adapted method is created by generating all possible cases of each
number of cards in each suites a player gets. We then analyze the results in a particular way with the chi-square
goodness of fit. The results came out in a positive trend. By using the adapted method while keeping focus on the
starting deck which have different cases, we then found that 5 is the minimum number of riffle shuffles needed for
the deck's randomization after we finish it.
