Abstract:
This thesis, electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) combine with electrochemical sensor was designed, fabricated, and experimental study for a plastic lab on a chip. Lab on a chip was designed into two parts which are H-junction EWOD structures for merging buffer reagent and analyzed droplets and the electrochemical sensor based on a screen-printed carbon paste electrodes (SPCEs) at the end of junction. In the design, the T-junction base EWOD was developed to the new H-junction that merging four droplets in one time to analyze at the end of H-junction structure. The H-Junction EWOs fabricated with silver paste by screen printing The electrochemical sensor comprised a working SPCEs, a counter SPCEs, and a screen-printed silver/silver chloride reference electrode. In experiment, the microchip was tested to study about possibility of droplets on the microchip to move at the end of H-junction of EWOD for analysis. For analysis, the electrochemical sensor was tested for enzymatic reaction of glucose using hydrogen peroxide (H-O) analysis with cyclic voltammograms. The results showed that detection performance with SPCEs sensor on the EWIOD microchip that can be used for enzymatic reaction of glucose.
