Abstract:
The objectives of this study consisted of 1) to study the concept of self-compassion based on Psychology and Buddhist principles in dealing with the resilience quotient of person; 2) to synthesize the elements of self- compassion in resilience quotient of entrepreneurs; and 3) to present a model for developing self-compassion in resilience quotient of entrepreneurs. The study was a qualitative research using an in-depth interview collecting data from 17 key informants including entrepreneurs succeeding in getting through the crisis and experts, and using a group discussion with 7 specialists. non-participatory observation. A content analysis was employed to analyze the data.
Findings were as follows:
1. The concept of self-compassion based on Psychology consisted of 9 elements including 1) Self-kindness, 2) Awareness of common humanity, 3) Mindfulness, and 4) Social connectedness, 5) Forgiveness, 6) Acceptance, 7) Gentleness, 8) Calmness , and 9) Human connection; and Self-compassion based on Buddhist principles consisted of 5 elements including 1) the ability to understand oneself and others physically and verbally, 2) having the right attitude and thought process, 3) the right reflection, 4) having good friends, and 5) having awareness.
2. The results of synthesizing the elements of self- compassion in resilience quotient of entrepreneurs from the interview of experts consisted of 3 elements including 1) Self-kindness, 2) Awareness of common humanity, and 3) Mindfulness, and from the entrepreneurs succeeding in getting through the crisis consisted of 4 components including 1) Understanding and accepting suffering as it really is, 2) Self-kindness, 3) Being mindful in the present, and 4) good friendliness.
3. The model for developing of self-compassion in resilience quotient of entrepreneurs is called 5C : 5 Power of Compassion Model consisting of 5 elements including 1) Self-kindness, 2) Mindfulness, 3) Awareness of Common Humanity, 4) Yonisomanasikara, and 5) Kalanamitta.
