Abstract:
In this thematic paper, two objectives were purposely made: 1) to study the ideas and theories for the dissemination of Dhamma of Thai Buddhist monks, and
2) to study the guidelines and methods for the dissemination of Dhamma of Wat SuthatThepwararamRatchaworamahawihan. This is qualitative research done by studying documents, Tipiñaka, commentaries, and related research works and in-depth interview of samples. In this research, that the descriptive method was also used.
In the research, it was found that there are many ways, speaking and acting, on the dissemination of Buddhism which would be done by Buddhist monks and laity. What becomes the most important techniques is that the disseminators must be endowed with the Buddhist teaching methods starting from the basic philosophy such as good friendship, mindfulness and wisdom, for instance, by which it is related to the listeners or learners whereby good friendship is meaningfully interrelated. It is said that what brings faith to the listeners where proper following is practically made is the propagation. It is also said that the communication becomes the essential aspect to Buddhist monks life and the carrying out of various activities depend heavily on the communication. Based on these, therefore, it is necessary factors for Buddhist monks and people involved to have appropriate understanding while performing duty in disseminating Buddhism to others.
As far as the guidelines and methods for the dissemination of Buddhism of Buddhist monks of Wat SuthatThepwararamRatchaworamahawihan are concerned, there are many guidelines and methods which are differently adopted by Buddhist monks while propagating Buddhism, social online media; Facebook, Line, and WWW., for instance. What is needed is to support and promote the establishment of a temple to be the centre of learning the communitys IT and the centre for studying the communitys Buddhism.
Therefore, it becomes necessary for Buddhist monks to study the integrated Buddhist guidelines and methods for the dissemination of Buddhism through both in the proactive and defensive manners where various techniques in preaching Dhamma can be shown in order that people in the modern era can understand Buddhadhamma by means of their intellectuality. Consequently, they can easily make use of those teachings to solve their problems in daily life. Furthermore, the basis for dissemination of Buddhism can be extended to the public where more attachment to Dhamma can made than to the self which would bring about the strong faith caused by such propagation.
