Abstract:
This dissertation aims to research the following objectives: 1) To study the context, problem situation and necessary requirements related to the Wat Mai (Yai Paen)s landscape architecture setting as a tool to create delightful place for Mind Meditation Development using BowornPower based on Buddhist Peaceful Means; 2) To analyze contemporary theories and principles of new-era science and the Buddhist approach that support landscape architecture; and 3) To develop and present landscape architecture setting as a tool to create delightful place for Mind Meditation Development using BowornPower based on Buddhist Peaceful Means. The research employed Action Research which was based on Ariyasacca (The Four Noble Truths) model under the 9 step framework. The study conducted field trip and collaborated with all stakeholders in the areas under the BowornPower (villages, temples, schools). The documentary research, employing relevant research works both within Thailand and in other countries, was also conducted to investigate contents, concepts, theories, and effective methods of practice. Participation observation, indept interview, research criticism and action research were utilized to collect data on Buddhist landscape architecture cultivation integrated with modern science. All of this data were used to design the landscape architecture to create delightful place. The Dhamma was integrated to serve and benefit the community and society, and the set objectives were met successfully.
From the dissertation, the following results are found:
1) The problems and necessities of Wat Mai (Yai Paen) community are caused by economic situations, which cause conflict among family members, there is no green space, dust problem PM2.5, impacting both physical and mental aspects, parking space shortage problem, therefore they use the temples cement courtyard as a car parking space. As a result, the Wat Mai (Yai Paen)s landscape architecture setting as a tool to create delightful place for Mind Meditation Development, which will result in good inner wellbeing in order to decrease the communitys physical and mental problems.
2) The Buddhist Peaceful Means conductive to Wat Mai (Yai Paen)s landscape architecture setting as a tool to create delightful place is Sappaya 4, consisting of 1. Sappaya Monastery, landscape architecture design which meet the temple and communitys needs. 2. Pukkol Sappaya, participation of BowornPower in development, maintenance the landscape architecture to be delightful place
3. Bhojana Sappaya, helping and sharing food within the community. 4. Utu Sappaya, the landscape architecture is designed to have a channel for wind to pass from Bangkok Noi Canal into the forest garden of the Wat Mai (Yai Paen).
3) From developing and presenting Wat Mai (Yai Paen)s landscape architecture settings as a tool to create delightful place for Mind Meditation Development using BowornPower based on Buddhist Peaceful Means by bringing the activity of planting trees and planting Dhamma to develop the target group to create participation from the BowornPower and a sense of ownership of the Rommaniyasathan Forest Park. A body of knowledge obtained is ROMANEE Model, R: Relax, O: Organizing, M: Mindfulness, A: Architecture, N: Naturopathy, E: Empowerment, and E: Environment.
