The six electric fault zone analysis for predictive maintenance on motors of the continuous production
Abstract:
This paper proposes motor health analysis by classifying into six fault zones. These consist of power quality, power circuit, insulation, stator, rotor, and air gap. First, power quality considers the relationship between voltage and current. Second, power current focuses on the current supplied to the motor. Third, insulation examines the health of insulation among windings and ground. Fourth, stator condition concerns the insulation of windings and solder joints between the coils and the stator core. Fifth, rotor focuses on the condition of both rotor cage and lamination. Lastly, air gap mainly concerns the concentricity between rotor and stator. All of these fault zones are diagnosed for condition-based monitoring with the aim to prevent premature motor damage and reduce maintenance costs.
