Abstract:
The research entitled Buddhism-Based Spiritual Peacemaking Process of Mortuary Makeup Artist Volunteers in Rayong Province aimed 1) to study Buddhism-based spiritual peace of mortuary makeup artists in Rayong Province, and 2) to examine the Buddhism-based spiritual peacemaking process of mortuary makeup artist volunteers in Rayong Province. This study was conducted with qualitative research method, where observation, in-depth interview and focus group were employed. The researcher selected key informants with snowball sampling technique, totaling 7 persons. Qualitative data were analyzed with content analysis method an analytic induction. The findings revealed that Buddhism-based spiritual peace of mortuary makeup artist volunteers in Rayong Province was the peace from their works when they experienced the reality of life and felt proud of overcoming difficulties that not everyone could do this job. The components could be divided into 1) sense of reality in life, 2) balance of living, 3) being peaceful, and 4) having good mental health. 2) the Buddhism-based spiritual peacemaking process of mortuary makeup artist volunteers in Rayong Province contained the procedure of volunteering development, starting from their interest, studying, networking and skill building and utilizing. The surveying process of these volunteers consisted of 4 important steps: 1) getting prepared, 2) meeting relatives of the decadents, 3) doing makeup for the departed and 4) healing the grieved. Essential factors promoting the makeup artist volunteering included 1) strong mine, 2) supportive family, 3) good friends, and 4) stable occupation. The relevant Dharma principles included Tri Luck (three characteristics of existence), Promwihan Dharma (Four sublime states), Sanggahavatthu (Bases of sympathy), Boonkiriyavatthu (Base of meritorious action), and Itthibat Dharma (Bases of success).
