Abstract:
The objectives of this research were (1) to develop an online lesson on the Engineering design process for students in 8th grade by using a flipped classroom teaching method. (2) to study the quality of online Engineering Design Process lessons for students in 8th grade by using a flipped classroom teaching method. (3) to study effectiveness of online Engineering Design Process lessons for students in 8th grade by using a flipped classroom teaching method. (4) to compare learning efficiency between the students who learned with flipped classroom instruction with e-Learning courseware and with conventional method. (5) to study student satisfaction with online Engineering Design Process lessons for students in 8th grade by using a flipped classroom teaching method. The statistics used were mean, standard deviation and t-test independent group.
The research findings were as follows:
1) The online lessons on the engineering design process for grade 8th students by using a flipped classroom teaching method consisted of 10 lessons consisted of out-of-class activities such as videos, knowledge sheets, sample worksheets, learning resources, and taking notes from out-of-class knowledge. Classroom activities consisted of worksheet and chapter quiz. 2) The online learning using flipped classroom was at a very good level (𝑋̅ = 4.76, S.D. = 0.35). 3) The efficiency of online learning using flipped classroom was found to be at 86.40/85.28. 4) The achievement of students after learning with online learning using flipped classroom was found to be higher than the achievement of students who learned with conventional educational methods at a statistically significant level of .05. 5) The satisfaction level of the students were at highest livel.
