Fatigue test of welded joint of gear box by S-N curve and its evaluation of fatigue life
Abstract:
The gearbox welding part is an important part that help perform the function of a vibration pile driver. However, it is currently a problem due to the occurrence of a failure mode in which fractures and cracks appear in the welding part. As a solution to this, an improved product was manufactured by changing the material in gearbox part. In this study, a fatigue test was performed to study the level of improvement of the fatigue property by the material change (Welten and Posten). The fatigue test was performed for each material at the stress ratio of R = 0.1 and R =-1.0, and after the fatigue test, the S-N curve for each material was drawn out and the results were analyzed. Furthermore, by using the fatigue test data, the validity of Goodman failure criteria was checked at the welds under various stress condition
