Abstract:
The research aims were to analyze factors (determinants) affecting farmers adoption of SO Processing Scheme for Java Preanger coffee and to construct prioritized strategies to enhance SO Processing Scheme implementation by AHP analysis. The data were collected from 134 farmers located in Malabar, Tilu, and Patuha mountains and depth interviews with farmer group leaders, West Java Province Official on Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Plantation, Coffee Developer (Roastery, Coffee Shop Owner, Retailer/ Cooperative supplier), Buyer, Exporter, Trader, and GI Protector. The ordered logit model was used to measure the probability of farmer in adopting the program with binary model 0 and 1 (1 if farmer adopt). The results found that factors inducing farmers to adopt SO Processing Scheme were (1) GI knowledge, household size of farmers, source of income, availability of neighborhood adopter, collective action within the groups, and government extension support. Barrier factors for farmers to adopt of SO Processing Scheme were (2) farmer age and credit liability. The recommendation strategies from AHP analysis were (1) farmer institution improvement as the priority of strategy (0.425), (2) farmer technical skill improvement (0.332), (3) financial access support (0.102), (4) technology support (0.087), and (5) marketing and partnership development (0.054).
