Abstract:
This research examines the challenges to the socio-economic well-being of the urban poor in Muang District, Chiang Mai Province, during the COVID-19 pandemic. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining documentary research and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that the urban poor faced loss of income, unemployment, and limited access to government assistance due to technological barriers and complex registration processes. Additionally, they experienced various social challenges, including difficulties in maintaining livelihood and inadequate access to healthcare services. The study applies the concepts of urbanization, social inclusion, and Sustainable Development Goal 11 sustainable cities and communities to analyze these issues and propose policy recommendations. These aims to promote sustainability and equity within the context of rapidly growing urban areas
