The analysis of the roles of sedimentation processes in coastal areas and environmental surroundings on primary production had been carried out. Field surveys were carried out along the western Gulf of Thailand, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, in 4 coastal areas covering Hua Hin, Kui Buri, Thap Sakae, and Bang Saphan districts during 2017-2018. The results on hydrological and meteorological conditions including inflows, rainfall, and wind speed had wide variations (0.16 - 130.50 x106m 3 , 0.0 - 295.3 mm, and 5.40 -<16.09 km/hr, respectively). Land use characteristics analysis had revealed that the agricultural land use was highest (>50%), except for the area of Hua Hin that was majorly composed of community and buildings. The study of beach quality indicated that the Hua Hin, Kui Buri, and Bang Saphan areas had narrow ranges of slope values (0-4 °). The Thap Sakae area had wide slope value ranges (0.5-8 °), which was composed of relatively large sediment sizes (≥ 500 to ≥ 1,000 µm). In addition, the accumulation of sedimentary organic matter and sulfides, and nutrients in pore water (in the forms of nitrogen and phosphorus), had wide variations. The shallow water qualities i.e. total suspended solids, water temperature, salinity and nutrients in the water mass had wide variations. In all areas, chlorophyll levels indicated very high variations that were in the ranges of 1.87-50.06 µg/L. The Bang Saphan area had the most difference of the chlorophyll a levels. The seasonal decreases chlorophyll had been effected by strong waves along the surf zone. Analysis on the sources of nutrients had revealed that coastal sediment process was the major source of nutrients that have fed into the pelagic areas (with a large amount of >80% compared to nutrients from other sources i.e. the inflow, rainwater, and land use nearby). The results on analysis of the relationship between sediment processes and environmental factors indicated that chlorophyll a levels (Chl a; µg/L) had positive significant relations to the slope (S) with (Chl a = 0.69 S1.87, r = 0.87). Moreover, the orthophosphate values (P; µM) showed significant impacts to chlorophyll a (Chl a = 24.53 P0.57, r= 0.79). The results on functions reflected that the increase of chlorophyll in the coastal areas were caused by various environmental factors that played complex roles in chlorophyll a increments along coastal areas. The overall result showed that the primary production in the coastal areas had received major nutrients from sea areas that were stimulated by coastal processes, that was the most important process and needed to be continually monitored the changes and their related impacts for precise assessment of primary production of the coastal areas
