The purpose of this research was to find key factors that affect mothers visual evaluation of cotton-knitted structures for their children and examine the relationship between gender and age. Moreover, to reveal the correlation between visual perceptions and objective measurements. Thirty mothers were participated in an experiment. They visually inspected 14 fabric samples with different knitted structures. Principal Components Analysis (PCA) found that our samples distributed over mainly two principal dimensions, PC1 could be Emotional feelings and PC2 is Functional feelings-Thickness features. General Linear Mixed-effects Models (GLMM) revealed interesting interactions that mothers feelings for cottonknitted structures depend on their design principle, but in different way for childrens age and gender. Next, Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) found two kinds of linear combinations of objective measurements that could predict mothers visual perception. First, CC1 is the objective measurements about Thickness features were high associated with Functional feelingsThickness features. The second, CC2 was objective measurements related to Density features that were associated with Overall satisfied. These results suggest that standard objective measurements could be effective to predict mothers visual perceptions for the fabrics, if we suitably combine multiple objective measurements. In conclusion, this study found key structural patterns that affected mothers visual impressions of cotton-knitted structures and devised a statistical method to predict them from standard objective measurements
