Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to explore the psychological mechanism that reduces stigma of male homosexuals living with mv and other supporting conditions. This qualitative research employed the case study approach. In-depth interviews were performed. The subjects were four male homosexuals working as a volunteer at HIV care center. The qualitative data obtained were analyzed using content analysis. It was found that the psychological mechanism reducing stigma of male homosexuals living with mv were: 1) being open-minded and acceptance ; 2) living with reality: seeking knowledge about HIV, living in the present moment and self-disclosure on their infection ; 3) having a meaningful life: having goal to be a volunteer, meaning for infected people as well as families and communities ; 4) seeing growth:- having pride, having self-efficacy and self-confidence, feeling growth in mind. Furthermore, supporting conditions were external support and self-enhancement. These findings can be used as a guideline for developing an individual or group counseling for miserable people from harm or loose.
