Abstract:
The diversity of riparian spider was investigated in Rayong Botanical Garden, Rayong Province, Thailand, between October 2016October 2017. A total of 783 spider specimens from 18 famiilies was found, consisting of 53% juveniles and 47% adults. The guild composition was assemblaged and compared among three habitat types. The ground hunters was the most abundant guild whereas the least abundant family was sensing web weavers which only one individual of Hersiliidae was found. The other hunter guilds belong to five families. The ground hunters and space web weavers belong to three families while orb web weaver and sheet web weaver belong to two families. Only one family belong to each ambush hunters and specialist. The ground hunters in the paper bark tree habitat showed significantly highest abundance, comparing to the mixed plant and human disturbed habitats. The specialist guild displayed the significantly higher abundance in the human disturbed habitat. The specialist orb web weavers guild had highest abundant in winter season whereas the ground hunters abundance was highest abundant in summer. The Canonical Correlation Analysis showed the interaction between the guild and environment factors i.e, temperature, canopy cover, soil humidity and dissolved oxygen. This study revealed that the diversity of spiders were influenced by the habitat type, environmental factors, and human activities.
