Using design thinking process with digital platform learning provision to enhance problem-solving thinking and science communication abilities of grade 4 students
Abstract:
This study aimed to 1) compare the scientific problem-solving thinking ability of Grade 4 students before and after being taught using the design thinking process with digital platform learning provision, and 2) study the science communication ability of Grade 4 students after being taught using the design thinking process with digital platform learning provision. The research sample consisted of 44 Grade 4/8 students, selected through cluster random sampling during the first semester of the 2024 academic year at The Prince Royal\'s College. The study tools included five science lesson plans focused on the topic of \"Properties of Materials, a problem-solving ability test, and a science communication ability assessment form. The data were analyzed by calculating means, percentages, standard deviations, and t-test. The findings were as follows:1. The scientific problem-solving ability of Grade 4 students was significantly increased after being taught using the design thinking process with digital platform learning provision, with statistical significance at the .01 level.2. The science communication ability of Grade 4 students, after being taught using the design thinking process with digital platform learning provision, was significantly higher than the preset criterion of 70 percent, with statistical significance at the .01 level.
