Abstract:
This study aimed to: 1) identify the components of innovative leadership of school administrators, 2) examine the current and desirable states of innovative leadership of school administrators, 3) assessment needs of innovative leadership development of school administrators, and 4) compose guidelines of innovative leadership development of school administrators. The participants consisted of 339 administrators and teachers in schools under the Secondary Education Service Area Office Nakhon Phanom, who were recruited using multi-stage sampling. The instrument was a 5-level rating scale questionnaire, which the part of current state indicated validity index ranged between 0.60-1.00, discrimination power index ranged between 0.27-0.75, and reliability index was at 0.95, whereas the desirable state indicated validity index ranged between 0.60-1.00, discrimination power index ranged between 0.27-0.96, and reliability index was at 0.95. Statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and modified priority needs index.
The findings were as follows.
1. The innovative leadership of school administrators consisted of seven components, namely 1) creative thinking, 2) creating an innovative organizational atmosphere, 3) teamwork and participation, 4) vision for change, 5) information and communication technology implementation, 6) risk management and 7) motivation. All components showed the highest level of propriety.
2. The current state of innovative leadership of school administrators achieved high level, and desirable state was rated at the highest level.
3. The need for innovative leadership development of school administrators showed the overall priority needs at 0.297. The components could be prioritized from 1) creative thinking, followed by 2) teamwork and participation and 3) vision for change, respectively.
4. The guidelines for developing innovative leadership of school administrators involved three aspects, namely creative thinking, teamwork and participation, and vision for change, including 28 development guidelines, The overall guidelines showed the highest level propriety.
