This study aims to explore the feasibility of using spectral reflectance technic to monitor the effects of water stress on rubber cultivar RRIM 600 through changes in leaf and canopy net photosynthesis rates. Water was withheld from potted rubber plants, leaf gas exchange rates and reflectance spectrums were then measured throughout the experiment. The 95% reduction of leaf photosynthesis rates, transpiration rates, and stomatal conductance confirmed the water-stress condition. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and normalized difference red edge index (NDRE) explained 6 6 % and 9 8 % of changes in leaf photosynthesis rates caused by moderate water-stress levels. The expansion of the bandwidth used to calculate the vegetation indices to 51 nm substantially increased the percent of leaf photosynthesis rate variations explained by NDVI to 8 1 % . On the other hand, the expansion of the bandwidth to 51 nm substantially reduced the percent of leaf photosynthesis rate variations explained by NDRE to 89%. At the canopy scale, averaged daily NDVI and net ecosystem exchange (NEE) using Eddy covariance technic from rubber plantation in Chachoengsao Rubber Research Center observed from 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2018 ranged from 0.385 to 0.879 and 0.00983 kg C m-2 day-1to 0.0053 kg C m-2day-1, respectively. During the 35th to 52nd weeks of 2016, 2017, and 2018 both NDVI and NEE tended to decrease along the transition from wet season to dry season and the regression analysis showed NDVI could explain 52%, 69%, and 66% of NEE variations, respectively.
