Investigating Current Situation of Chinese Literacy Management: A Case Study of Bachua Primary School Students in Jinan City
Abstract:
This study had two objectives: 1) to investigate of the current situation of Chinese literacy management in primary school; 2) to propose a management guide manual for language literacy management. Baohua Primary School, totally 28 Chinese language teachers and 1,956 students and a sampling survey was conducted on 28 teachers and 489 students' parents. Used the Likert Five Point Scale to assess the needs and issues of respondents in managing primary school students' language literacy. The analyzing and explaining the collected data and information employed frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation The research results indicate that 1) the highest problem among teachers was in terms of literacy and writing with "students lacking effective literacy methods" having an X = 4.73, S.D. = 0.33; the highest demand among teachers was to expand students reading range, with an X = 4.68, S.D. = 0.33 The highest problem among parents of students was children lack initiative in answering questions in class, with an X = 4.78, S.D. = 0.43; The highest demand among parents of students were expanding children's reading range, with an X = 4.68, S.D. - 0.33. Finally, through data analyzing of group interviews, a Chinese literacy management guideline manual constructed; 2) through the study of primary school students' Chinese literacy ability, it was found that the vertical communication between teachers and students were influenced and constrained by various factors such as Chinese curriculum standards and textbooks. The connotation of primary school students' Chinese literacy was rich and could not be quantified, but it did not mean that it is difficult to operate and could not be measured. The Chinese literacy of primary school students gradually forms in the process of literacy, writing, and oral communication. The interaction and integration of these four main contents with knowledge, ability, process, methods, emotions, and attitudes jointly promoted the formation of primary school students' Chinese literacy
