Abstract:
The objective of this study is to develop comprehensive reading skills through the SQ4R learning method for Grade 6 students, with a target achievement level of 75%. The target group consists of eight Grade 6 students from the second semester of the 2023 academic year at Wang Luang Quality School, located in Wang Luang Subdistrict, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province, under the Roi Et Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. This action research study consists of three cycles. The research instruments include: 1) six SQ4R learning management plans, and 2) a reading comprehension assessment. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The research findings revealed that in Cycle 1, two Grade 6 students achieved the target reading comprehension level of 75%, accounting for 25.00% of the total number of students, with an average score of 12.00 or 60.00%. In Cycle 2, five students met the 75% target, representing 62.50% of the students, with an average score of 14.88 or 74.38%. In Cycle 3, all eight students (100.00%) reached the 75% criterion, with an average score of 17.25 or 86.25%. These results indicate that the Grade 6 students successfully achieved the reading comprehension goal, surpassing the target benchmark of 75%.
